She thought it would be a good way for me to get my foot in the door by starting out as a sterile tech and working to being trained for a dental assistant. The most wonderful thing about it was it was at one of their dental office's that is only about 20 miles from my house versus driving all the way into Nashville. How awesome is that, right? So she set me up for the interview a couple days later and PRAISE GOD the dentist hired me on the spot!!!! I put my two week notice in at the water heater plant ( by the way they were not happy at all that I was leaving) and last Thursday was my first day at the dentist office. To say the least my mind has been completely boggled but I love every minute of it. It has been incredible to be blessed with such an awesome opportunity for a professional career and being trained for it on the job without having to go to school for it.
O.k. enough on the new job, I AM SO READY FOR SPRING!!!!!
I've gotten several seed catalogs in the mail that I've been drooling over and I can't wait to get my hands dirty. I did make a batch of laundry soap oh I guess it's been almost a month ago that I was going to share some pics of...
Homemade Laundry Soap
1/3 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap, as listed above
½ cup washing soda
½ cup borax powder
~You will also need a small bucket, about 2 gallon size~
Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.
I must say it is very cost effective and cleans the clothes just as well as any store bought.
Well I started this post a couple days ago, and seeing as I didn't have to go to work today because of the weather I am taking opportunity to finish it. Looking out the window of my bedroom as I type this and enjoying the white winter scene that even only an inch of snow has created. The earlier part of this day was not so much.
Guess this is what I get for trying to combine two posts into one. Needless to say my husband's car got stuck coming down the driveway last night when it was pouring rain, we tried to pull him out with my truck this morning and got it stuck as well. Yeah I can laugh now, but at the time there was nothing funny about it. My husband had called in that he wouldn't be able to come in to work, but that was not resolving our problem.
We have serious issues with our rural driveway that we just can't afford to professionally have fixed and the wet winter weather fights against us. But back to today. David was finally able to get my truck out and to the top of the driveway, then worked and got his car out. Thank God and he was able to go to work only being a couple hours late instead of missing the whole day.
Now I have the adventure in the morning of walking up our 1/4 mile long driveway to my truck... lots of rain turning to snow + even lower temps tonight = ICE!!! Ice is not my friend when it comes to me walking on it. Well I hope all the rest of you are staying warm. Like I said, "Come on Spring"!!!
I leave you with a picture of my "oldest kid" and how he is spending his snow day:)
