Learning
So I haven't quite figured this whole blogging them out, but I'm trying my best..I was trying to add some photos of the birthday cake I made this past weekend onto this blog. Somehow that hasn't quite worked out and I created one just for the photos. The cake was for my manager's son's third birthday. I've been making his cakes every year so far. His first birthday I made a Sesame Street Big Bird cake and last year it was Thomas the Train. This week I'm also making two more cakes, one for a fellow c0-worker's baby shower and another for my mother-law's job. I really enjoy making and decorating cakes, actually anything to do with baking in like my passion. I've worked as an assistant pastry and pastry chef for two different restaurants, but I really enjoy doing it more on my own turf. I guess that's why for I've worked as a server for so long, definitely don't enjoy it but the money holds you to it. Anyway for now I enjoy baking on my own time.

Introductions are necessary
Just to let all other interested bloggers know, yes I am extremely new to this whole blogging thing. I figure that as much time that I spend on the computer I should at least do something constructive. So a guess introductions are necessary, so here goes!
Hi, my name is Shea, or for those GBA people who knew me from Alabama it would be April. My husband, David, and I will be celebrating our two year wedding anniversary on October 27. In all we've been together for six years, he is truly by best friend and I couldn't imagine my life without him. As of now we don't have any children, but are working on it. So for the time being I am content with our four dogs, one horse and several farm cats.
Just to fill you in a little bit about my life, May 13, 2006 my father-in-law had a very serious accident and becamed paralized from his chest down. That was the beginning of our life being turned upside down. My in-law's live out in the country an hour west of Nashville on 18 ac. of beautiful land. His mom was inbetween jobs an knew she wouldn't be able to work for having to take care of her husband. So, David and I did the only thing we knew we could and moved in with them to help financially, physically and mentally. Nobody else had stepped up to the plate, so what else were we to do. Between May and October we went through several more turn of events and sadly my father-in-law passed away on October 5, 2006. Ya know it really is a shame how people are treated when they don't have health insurance. I truly think that if Larry (my father-in-law) had been gived the care that he was supposed to have had , he would still be with us today. He was a strong healthy 52 year old man that was in the process of building him and his wife their home until that tragic day. By the way I will post some pics of the house soon ( it's also the home we live in , even though it's not finished) . Larry was one of those good ol' country boys from Minnessota, you know the kind that never asked for help, but always found a way to do it himself. I've been thinking and remembering him more and more these day, I guess that's because next month will mark a year since he died.
So here we are living in an A-frame house that Larry built with his own two hands, yes it leaks when it rains for there is no roof on it just a plastic tarp, and there really is no way we can fix it. Nothing about the house is up to building codes, but it is our home for now. And even though it will probably have to be torn down, there is still a lot of meaning behind this house. Thankfully my mother-in-law received a bit of money from their accidental life insurance that was able to pay the land off. She signed it over to David and I because her and Larry had already decided long before that we were the only ones that they would want to have it. So now David and I have a deed free and clear to our 18 ac. of property. My mother-in-law has just recently decided that she doesn't want to live here anymore, she can't enjoy it as much anymore without having her husband to share it with her. So next spring she will be moving back to Oklahoma where her younger son an sister , and most importantly to her is her first grandchild (a girl) Sunny that was born back in June. I think she is now ready for the next chapter in her life.
So you might ask where does that leave us? Well you see last May David went to school and got his CDL license and is now an over the road truck driver. Going from being a sous chef to a truck driver is a mind boggling change, but he did it for us and the opportunity to make better money. So I guess after his mom moves that leaves me here and my husband on the road three to five week at a time. We are hoping come spring we will be able to start building our house. Believe you me I have a lot to keep me busy! Well I guess for it being my first blog I've filled you in on enough for now.
